Metekhi Bridge is the first metal bridge across the Mtkvari river in
Tbilisi. The old wooden bridge (built in 1821) was substituted for the metal
one in June of 1870. Is span was approximately 27,5 m., width about 5.5 m.
Designed by Ordysh, an English engineer. At present the river is spanned here
by a new Metekhi bridge. The mosque was built in the 16 c. Was located on the
bank of the Mtkvari river in the neighborhood of Vakhtang Gorgasali Square.
Demolished at the end of 1940s due to local reconstruction work.
